SX: Carl Ostermann went to the podium twice at the kickoff for the SX Season in Zuidbroek (NL)!

Carl started the SX Season 2014/2015 with a solid performance and two trips to the podium (2/2). Despite a good result this weekend, the ten-year-old still has more promise and has yet to achieve his full potential.

Don’t take unnecessary risks and test the waters first; this was the attitude that Carl went into the first SX race of the season with, and his defensive strategy on Saturday landed him in second place behind the Dane Matti Jorgensen (65cc small wheel class). Nick Domann (D) clinched third place.

This line-up remained unchanged on Sunday. As on the previous day the ten-year-old youngster completed the two events. With a second place finish behind Jorgensen, the result was a solid one, but clearly less that what Carl can deliver on his best days. The third place finisher was Yoran Moens (B).

It wasn’t always easy to follow the race action. In the 65cc class, big wheel and small wheel bikes raced together, and they were then scored separately at the end. The spectators had to pay close attention to see who was out in front.

Carl before the trip home:

“I’m not really satisfied with the results. I know that I can go faster. But somehow it just didn’t click. On top of that in training on Friday, I missed a jump and then I was a bit too focused on safety. Next time I won’t pull any punches!”
