Carl Osterman wins the ADAC SX CUP 2017/2018!
After an exciting and suspenseful race-weekend, Carl Ostermann won the decisive Final Race on Saturday night, in front of 10.000 viewers in the sold out Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, and is now the new ADAC SX CUP Champion 2017/2018. The FOX-Youngster started the last two races of the ADAC SX Series with a mere 3 point lead, and was on a par with his rival for the title, Paul Bloy, after achieving 2nd place on Friday. The critical moment of the race was whoops section in which the thirteen-year-old from Bonn was simply not to be beaten.
After his victory on Sunday, Carl was then also able to secure the event title “Kleiner Prinz von Dortmund 2018” (Little Prince of Dortmund 2018).
Carl after the SX-Marathon on Sunday evening:
It was clear from the outset that it would be a tight thing. Paul fought very well, and my failing to win on Friday meant the race on Saturday became the final. But I knew the whoops could win the race for me, and that’s exactly what happened. Of course I’m happy, but after three days of races I’m also absolutely exhausted.
Coach Seb Tortelli:
This Dortmund races kept me on my toes all weekend with Carl clinching the championship on the wire. Last race of the last event. It reminded me of my last 1998 world championship against Stefan Everts. 2nd championship of the season for Carl, one more series to go and Carl Ostermann and the KTM FOX SX Racing Team will keep working hard to get it. Carl had to come under strong pressure and did his job.
