Carl Ostermann moves to the 85cc class!
After a successful finish of the supercross season, Carl Ostermann has switched to the 85cc class (SX3/85cc) making him one of the youngest riders in his class.
The decision to change after the end of the supercross season (SX) had already been made in the middle of last year. The first tests riding the 85cc KTM confirmed the expectations that this was the right way forward for Carl’s future development as a rider.
The age range in the division is extremely wide. According to the DMSB regulations, riders form 10 to 16 are eligible. This could mean that there will be a steep learning curve for the ten year old in the first season. In addition to the training for the supercross season 2015/2016, the start of selected regional and national MX races are also on the adgenda.
Coach Collin Dugmore:
“Carl could have rode in the 65cc class for another two years, but he’s technically and mentally ready for this next step. What’s crucial now is his physical development. The goal for the upcoming SX season is to finish in the top third of the field. It’ll be a challenge, but not unrealistic. Next year’s going to be really exciting!”
