A messed up weekend for Carl Ostermann!
The Monster Energy Supercross in Geneva is always a special challenge; everything is just one size bigger.
With a solid placement in the midfield, at first everything went according to plan for Carl in the qualifying on Friday. However this has taken a turn in the Semifinal when a riderless bike from the oncoming lane hit the Rookie who was in 6th place at that time, shortly before the end. Despite some scratches and bruises, Carl was able to compete in the Last Chance Race, but unhappily missed the final by one place.
On Saturday Carl couldn´t connect to his performance from the previous day. The newcomer in the SX2 class just couldn´t find his rhythm in the Time Practice and therefore had no chance to qualify for the final.
Carl after the LCQ on Saturday evening:
I had quite a hard time on Saturday. I think that I was concentrated too much on the whole race and just not enough on my own riding. If not fully focused, you have no chance in such a strong field! Most of all I am annoyed about myself.
Coach Seb Tortelli:
Carl had a hard first SX Tour event. Pressure was on and he managed a good first part on Friday, but a crash kept him out of quali position. He was able to size up the competition to come up more ready for the final round of the championship next weekend in Amnéville.
